Another cass in timely fashion, this time from New York’s Financial Collapse (Carolyn Hietter). We’re happy to get this out there -- this being the first solo release from Hietter (who also rips sax in NYC’s Sweet Baby Jesus).

Hold It! is two overlapping recordings of solo saxophone (one from 2019, one from 2020).

1st take recorded to tape at Mark Fletcher Studio, in motion, one mic on the performer's throat, one mic in the hallway, one mic in the room.

2nd take recorded digitally at Chauncey Street, sitting still, one mic in between the soundboard of the piano and a large metal disk.

Hold It! catches the spatial interactions Hietter aims to highlight in her live performances and runs them up against a more sonically static recording. It’s a kind of temporal dialogue. A patient exploration of timbre and dynamics.
